Sandy Point Lighthouse
Location:
Viewpoint:
Facing West - The Sandy Point Lighthouse is located close to the mouth of Shelburne Harbour.
Information:
Conveniently located an hour from the Yarmouth Ferry and just two hours from Halifax, on Nova Scotia’s beautiful South Shore, the Municipality of the District of Shelburne is a unique, rural community with a lot to experience. Our Municipality offers lighthouses, rugged coastlines, white sand beaches, fishing villages and neighbourly people. For the golfer, we have a beautiful 18 hole golf course in Clyde River and in Birchtown, you can take a guided tour of the new Black Loyalist Heritage Centre and Historical Site, the first freed black settlement in North America. You can canoe or camp along our lakes and rivers, paddle or surf in the ocean, sail in our harbour, walk or ride our extensive trail system or sit back and do some bird watching. It is a quality of life that complements longtime residents, welcomes newcomers and invites visitors to keep coming back. The Sandy Point Lighthouse is located close to the mouth of Shelburne Harbour. This is one of Shelburne’s most popular photo opportunities at any time of day however, at low tide, you can walk out to the lighthouse for that prefect selfie. Bring your buckets and collect sand dollars, relax on the sand bar while enjoy some treats from the canteen. This is also a very popular location for weddings, corporate dinners, family reunions and other special events. The Municipality boasts a rich maritime history and the third best natural harbour in the world. We invite you to come and give yourself a rest from life’s hustle and bustle, where you can enjoy everything we have to offer at your own pace.
