YOUR OPPORTUNITY
To ensure a safe, secure environment is maintained for staff, patients and visitors by responding to security incidents, fire alarms and other internal emergencies within the hospital facility. The successful applicant will support clinical units within the health facility by performing operational services related functions to support services including Porterage and Cleaning.

YOUR ROLE
- Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with CHHHS values - Accountability, Integrity, Compassion and Respect.
- Follow defined service quality standards, occupational health and work policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
- Communicate timely and effectively in emergency situations with supervisors and department heads working effectively as part of a team.
- Patrol the hospital facility buildings including accommodation and regularly checking all entry/ exit doors are locked to ensure a safe working environment for staff, patients and visitors.
- Undertake initial response, report & containment of fire and security incidents /breeches to the Nurse Team Leader out of hours and to the Operational Services Supervisor and Director of Nursing during hours while continuing to maintain effective hospital communication and liaison during the course of the incident.
- Prioritise workload ensuring urgent duties are attended.
- Undertake duties consistent with the role of an Operational Services Officer as required including but not limited to:
- Respond to telephone calls and attend to all calls promptly.
- Transport patients to various departments throughout the hospital and return to wards.
- Conduct security requirements for helicopter medivac landings before transporting to and from helicopter.
- Identify document, receipt and discharge bodies of deceased patients.
- Assist with patient handling as per guidelines and as directed.
- Conduct regular inspections of buildings & equipment to ensure service ability of equipment and effective fire safety precautions are observed.
- Cleaning of various areas of the facility.
- Attend to phone alarms (Duress, Fire, Assist, Vaccine fridges, medical gas etc.)
- Check medical gas cylinders and main banks and change when necessary.
- Submit written reports on all security related incidents.
- Perform other duties as directed by Line management.

While not mandatory, possession of the following would be well regarded:
- Certificate III – Security Operations or Security Officer/Crowd Controller License issued in Queensland.
- Has completed or working toward completing Occupational Violence Training

6:00am 4:00pm 60km K2PD SOLO and Team Relay foot race The Kuranda to Port Douglas is a point-to-point race incorporated in the Mowbray National Park within the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. It starts just off Kennedy Highway in Kuranda and follows Black Mountain Road through native rainforest, open eucalyptus forest, pine plantations and over picturesque creeks. The finish is on the famous Four Mile Beach, Port Douglas. The tropical rainforest is home to the endangered southern cassowary, a flightless bird that can grow to two metres in height - you might see one!
Join us for the 60km K2PD SOLO and Team Relay foot race. Entries close at 11.59pm, Thursday, 15 August 2024.
