Welcome to Swedetown
The Swedetown Recreation Area in Calumet, Michigan, provides outstanding opportunities for recreation, including 29km of groomed cross-country ski trails in the winter and 25 miles of purpose-built singletrack mountain bike trails in the summer.
There are also snowbike and snowshoe trails in the winter. Hikers and runners are welcome to use all of the trails in the summer.
The Swedetown Chalet provides a welcoming starting point for all trail adventures, and there are two additional trailheads for both summer and winter use. Check out our maps for details.
The Swedetown Trails Club, a volunteer organization, provides the stewardship for the trails in partnership with Calumet Township.
The Swedetown Trails offer cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snow biking, and sledding in the winter; and singletrack mountain bike trails (which are also available for walking and running) in the summer.
How to Find Us
The main trailhead for Swedetown is on Osceola Road in Calumet near the intersection with Swedetown Road. Look for the big welcome sign marking the driveway.
There is a trailhead with parking on M203. In the summer and fall you can enter here to connect to Lakeview and other bike and hike trails. In the winter you can access ski and snowshoe trails here. Watch for the brown trailhead sign just north of the intersection of M203 and Cloverland Road (the trailhead address is 22500 State Highway M203).
